Founded in 1916, AERA is concerned with improving education by encouraging scholarly inquiry and promoting the dissemination and practical application of research results.
AERA’s more than 25,000 members are distinguished professionals with rich and diverse expertise in educational research who work in a range of settings, from universities and other academic institutions to research institutes, federal and state agencies, school systems, testing companies, and nonprofit organizations. Through national and international presentations, publications, and outreach, AERA researchers generate, disseminate, and apply new knowledge, measures, and methods. Their efforts positively impact teaching and learning at all levels and in many fields beyond education, including psychology, statistics, sociology, history, economics, philosophy, anthropology, and political science.
