Work towards developing a "Business Analytics" concentration.I have proposed and three class concentration (BIS 580/581/582) for BDA concentration. The classes are now approved and on the bulletin. I have already developed an online offering of BIS 582 in addition to offering the class in face-to-face format two so far. The committee has thus been dissolved as the purpose of the committee is served. I have been able to establish a working relationship with a company called HortonWorks . As a result of this partnership, CMU has become their academic partner and faculty at CMU can get access to study materials provided by HortonWorks. These resources were recently deployed when BIS department offered the experimental class on Data Analytics in Summer 2016. The class was taught by Mr. Paul Dunn. The class utilized the study materials provided by HortonWorks. We are looking to build further expertise and strength in the area of data analytics. I have also been in contact with Cloudera, a firm with provides data analytic tools. Contingent on successful negotiations, CMU will have access to various tools that can be used in undergraduate and graduate classes
