Description

Central Michigan Nutrition Coalition is a partnership between Central Michigan University’s Dietetics Program (CMU), Gratiot-Isabella Technical Center (GI-TEC), and Mount Pleasant High School (MPHS). The Coalition is comprised of faculty, administrators, students, foodservice professionals, and parents working together to provide a series of sustainable nutrition and food related educational experiences. The Coalition supports a series of service-learning and peer-mentorship programs where faculty-supervised CMU Dietetics students are working alongside GI-TEC Culinary students to provide nutrition education for the MPHS community. CMU Dietetics students learn the fundamentals of providing community programming in a public school setting, while being supervised and mentored by a Registered Dietitian and a Certified Executive Chef.
