During Jan. 8-16, 2020 I was invited and agreed to participate in a second level webex interview of candidates for the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw’s first diocese archivist position. I drafted questions, discussed process, participated in the interview, assessed the candidates, offered ideas, and offered to advise the search committee in the future about drafts of their mission statement, records schedule, other administrative documents, and priority plans for their archives/museum, and to assist whoever they hire upon request. The new archivist will create a functioning archives/museum, and provide outreach/education to diocese members. None of the diocesean committee knew anything about archives or how to evaluate the candidates' archival abilities. I assisted with 2nd round of reviewing candidates and interviews IN Sept. 2020. We interviewed and evaluated 2 final candidates for the position and decided which would be the best to hire for the position.
