Management (Organizational unit)

Activity: MembershipMembership of committee

Description

Vincent G. Whitelock served on the Department of Management’s Assessment Committee (Fall 2018; Fall 2019). (2/2) Together with Alexandra E. MacDougall, Luis Antonio Perez-Batres, and Tomas Thundiyil, Vincent meets with the Management Department Assessment Committee to assess learning in the department’s majors. For the Purchasing and Supply Chain (PSM) major, Vincent evaluates the exam test scores for each of the students with a PSM major, and compares their performance to the stated goals and the objectives of the PSM curriculum. Vincent gathers, compiles, analyzes, and summarize the data, using descriptive statistics such as minimums, maximums, medians, mode, and averages. Based on the findings, Vincent determines how well the student performances meet the stated goals and objectives, for the PSM curriculum. Vincent then makes available the findings for review, by the committee, the department, the college, and the university by inputting the findings in the university’s WEAVE computer system. The impact of these activities is that this practice enables faculty and administration to highlight “opportunities for improvement” to more closely align practices with goals and objectives.
