Description
Additionally, Vincent G. Whitelock has also contributed to his “fair share” of internal service by engaging in the Commencement Day Ceremony – Participated 7 semesters, 5 as a Marshal – Kyle Pybus-Jerome (Spring 2016, Fall 2016, Spring 2017, Fall 2017, Spring 2018, Fall 2018, Spring 2019). (7/2). In the capacity of Marshal, at the Commencement Day Ceremony, Vincent G. Whitelock: 1) Greets the graduating students as they arrive to line-up before marching into the auditorium; and 2) Engages in conversation with students prior to, during, and after the ceremony. This may include reminiscing and sharing stories of our time at CMU, participation in organizations and clubs, and discussing tips for being successful in college, in careers, and in life. Vincent also “breaks the ice” with the students, and gets the students to line up correctly to enable them to march into the auditorium. Vincent helps students with their regalia, properly positioning their hoods, and tassels. Vincent helps to escort the graduating students through the building to their seats in the auditorium. When the time comes for the graduating students to receive their degrees, Vincent also escorts the students to the front of the auditorium, so that they can obtain their degrees, after having their names called. After the Commencement Day Ceremony concludes, Vincent helps to escort the students out of the auditorium to meet with their families, friends, and loved ones. Also, during the ceremony, Vincent shakes the hands, and gives fist-bumps and high-fives to hundreds of graduates, while making them feel at ease, and while congratulating them and giving them well wishes. The impact of this activity is that the graduating student receives a warm send-off from the faculty, and that the parents, family, friends, and loved ones, of the graduating students, see that CMU has taken very good care of their graduates.Period | May 1 2016 → May 31 2019 |
