With graduate students, we worked with The Migizi Economic Development Corporation to help create an internship program aimed at using an integrative approach to educate participants regarding the history of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and its business practices. The program will also provide students with opportunities to apply this knowledge in a business setting. In order to develop the program, a list of potential contacts and resources was generated by the CMU team, requirements for compliance with CMU’s internship guidelines were determined, and a short survey assessing Native American student interest was administered to CMU students.
A report was presented to Migizi, and a brief course outline was created and future steps in program development were planned.
