Description

The Vice-President/President-elect shall maintain the "Executive Handbook" detailing the duties of each officer; notify officers of duties; serve ex-officio on the Program Committee. The President shall be the chief executive officer of The Society; preside at all meetings of The Society, of the Executive Committee, and of the Executive Council; be a non-voting ex-officio member of all committees. The immediate Past President shall implement, maintain and propose changes as necessary in Bylaws of the Society and be responsible for preparing Bylaw amendments approved by the Executive Committee for approval by the membership The purpose of The Society shall be to promote the advancement of Phycology and to foster phycological research. Interact with other professional society to lobby for the scientific community. Maintain and set standards for algal research via the Journal of Phycology and an annual scientific meeting.
