    Description

    The Committee on Public Policy provides strategic information and advice to the SAA Council to enhance SAA’s capacity to address public policy issues and concerns affecting archivists, archives, the archival profession, and its stakeholders. The Committee recommends to the SAA Council the public policy priorities on which SAA should focus its attention and resources, within the context of the Society’s mission and strategic plan. Led the Archives on the Hill Advocacy effort in Washington, DC (Aug. 14, 2018); Rapid response to several public policy issues affecting archivists (PRA, FRA, FOIA, etc.); Created the 2019-21 COPP Workplan; Created the 2019-20 SAA Public Policy Agenda; Created the 2019-20 SAA Legislative Agenda; Created a workshop for SAA re: advocating for archives at the state and local levels (conducted in 2019 and 2021); Led an effort to engage archives and cultural heritage institutions in proposing "earmarks" to be included in federal congressional spending in 2021;
