Description
I volunteered as a member of the SAA mentoring Program subcommittee. Founded in 1994, the Mentoring Program is administered by the SAA Mentoring Subcommittee of the Membership Committee. The Mentoring Program fosters mentoring relationships by connecting participants with shared interests. Mentoring is for anyone, at any stage of their career. We serve a 2-year term. We are responsible for matching mentor/mentees for 1 month, serving as backup matcher for one month, facilitating at least 1 meeting, taking notes at 1 meeting, and taking on a project. I'm working with another archivists on updating the mentor/mentee tip sheet. We meet monthly. Members give the amount of time they can. During COVID a record number of archivists signed up for mentors increased exponentially with archivists trying to find jobs. Currently the committee matches and actively communicates with 156 mentees plus mentors, some of whom mentor more than one mentee. The committee is currently revising to have 2 annual signup periods instead of rolling dates, and related forms, like the Tip sheet I'm editing. After mentor/mentee relationship ends the committee surveys both participants.Period | Sep 21 2021 → Sep 30 2023 |
