This committee serves as an advisory group to CMU's Center for Excellence in STEM Education, as well as the STEM Education Scholars program (which consists of undergraduate teacher candidates who are preparing to teach in math or the sciences; the program provides Scholars with many experiences to supplement those they have formally through teacher preparation courses). The STEM Education Steering Committee also provides regular and important opportunities for faculty in my department (TEPD) to meet and communicate with STEM faculty who work with teacher candidates.
