Sunshine Week was launched in 2005 by the American Society of News Editors and has grown into an enduring initiative to promote open government throughout all levels of government. The purpose of the week is to highlight the fact that government functions best when it operates in the open. This week-long celebration, sponsored by Central Michigan Life, Mary Ellen Brandell Volunteer Center, Office of Diversity Education, Department of Journalism, and Society of Professional Journalists will cover a variety of topics and bring esteemed journalists in the field back to campus!
