Abstract

This keynote address showed that contrary what many may believe, Prohibition in the US was not something that flipped on in 1920 and off in December 1933. We trace the ebbs in flows of state and local prohibitions prior to 1920 and show that the relaxation of prohibitions were likely temporally and geographically spread after 1933.
