Abstract

The Tibetan Book of the Dead has had a broad impact on popular culture, from Timothy Leary’s 1964 reading as a guide to psychedelic experience to George Sanders’ 2017 novel Lincoln in the Bardo. This paper explores its influence on Phillip K. Dick’s 1969 novel Ubik.
