Abstract
This article addresses current trends of the theme park industry particularly related to the safety of various rides of amusement attractions in North America. The major characteristics of the incidents were identified utilizing a wide range of publications including industry, government and media. Injury estimation was calculated using data and formulas provided by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. This paper further identifies not only types of rides that casuse injury, but also a selected demographic of injury victims. The last section of the paper addresses areas of concern and makes recommendations to management and users of the amusement attractions to curtail preventable incidences.
