Abstract

Preperitoneal colopexy by a modified Lahaut technique is a simple, safe, quick and satisfactory procedure for complete prolapse of the rectum. The modified technique has completely reduced the recurrence rate. Postoperative complications are absent and mortality is practically nil. A series of 32 cases with a follow up from 6 mth to 5 yr is presented with excellent results. Advantages of this method over other procedures are discussed and the reported literature is reviewed.
