The study examined bursting strength and elongation with latest test for interlock, jersey and pique knits. Findings revealed that interlock knits did not differ for bursting strength but differed for extension. In contrast, jersey and pique knits differed significantly for both variables for different fiber contents. Knit construction impacted bursting strength and extension significantly for 100% cotton. However, interlock and pique knits in 100% polyester did not differ for 100% polyester but did for extension. Results from impact of count, thickness and weight revealed that they were significant for pique and jersy knit but not for the interlock knits. Weight and count impacted bursting strength for jersey knits. Need for repeating and extending this work was recommended.
