Abstract

The purpose of this research is to gather information from foster parents in South Carolina that may help teachers to overcome challenges of teaching foster children. These studies are comparative and based on qualitative descriptive methodology. In both states one hundred fifty foster parents were addressed, but the low response rate were the limitations of these studies. The results described existing situation: the reasons for becoming foster parents; problems that foster children are facing in school according to foster parents; and are presenting suggestions what teachers could do to help foster children and their parents.
