Cloud Computing for Healthcare Information Systems

Healthcare information systems (HIS) has become the frontier of information system development and implementation when the healthcare industry faces increasing pressure from patients, communities, and governments to reduce cost, improve service quality, and increase accessibility. However, the wide deployment of HIS faces many challenges, including lack of the knowledge of best practices, shortage of human capitals and technological expertise, high costs, difficulty of system integration and data sharing. This study analyzes and classifies current HIS solutions and proposes cloud computing as a viable technological solution for HIS development.
