Abstract

The paper entitled "Economic Engine, Humble Icon of Inland and Coastal Commerce: A Comparative Study of Capital Investment in and Longevity of Scows on the Great Lakes of Canada and the United States to the Scows of New Zealand” compared the development of a particular ship type internationally and found significant ecnomic factors to explain similiarities in its short term proliferation.
