Abstract

The compressed-air-foam (CAF) technology was implemented in a fixed piping system. The construction details of the system, including foam generation and delivery are summarized with a comprehensive set of results showing the effectiveness of overhead CAF systems. The fire suppression effectiveness and extinction mechanisms of CAF and water mist and sprinkler systems are compared.
