Osteosynthesis of the tibia and fibula (Figs. 13.1, 13.2, 13.3, 13.4, 13.5, 13.6, 13.7, 13.8, 13.9, 13.10, 13.11, 13.12, 13.13, 13.14, 13.15, 13.16, 13.17, 13.18, 13.19, 13.20, 13.21, 13.22, 13.23, 13.24, 13.25, 13.26, 13.27, and 13.28) is performed with wires 1.8–2 mm in diameter. In combined external fixation, half-pins 5 and 6 mm in diameter are used together with wires. The osteosynthesis set must also include 2-mm console wires with stops of various lengths (5, 10, 15 and 20 mm) for variable bone insertion.
