Abstract

We evaluate the Quality of Experience (QoE) for spherical images presented in a multimedia consumer setting with commercial mobile devices. We find that approximations and initial predictions from the non-referential BRISQUE image quality metric is possible within ten percent of the common Likert-type scale ratings. A comparison of results with those obtained in augmented reality settings yields significant differences for the same content, requiring different approaches for approximations. Overall, our findings can readily applied in real world settings by network and content service providers in future offerings.
