Abstract
Informal workers comprise more the half of the world’s workforce and contribute one-quarter of global GDP. Informality is commonplace within and across national economies. Economic informality refers to otherwise legal economic activities that avoid government detection and oversight. This essay introduces and connects informality with international business.
