Abstract
Conference canceled due to COVID

Aphasia not only changes communication, but also impacts psychosocial aspects of life, including relationships. The aim of this project was to understand the complexity of living with aphasia through the lens of those living with it. A template analysis was used to qualitatively examine stories submitted online to the National Aphasia Association’s Aphasia Threads Project. Forty-three stories submitted by people with aphasia were analyzed for themes from existing literature (Brown, et al. 2012) about living successfully with aphasia. Anticipated results include similarities between themes in the recent literature and themes present in the online narratives. Such themes can be insightful for other people living with aphasia and the clinicians who provide them support.
