Abstract

Humor is a powerful and effective tool for communication, and can be particularly useful in providing gateways to scientific thought and principles. Scientific comedy is also useful for scientists who want to express and reflect on their lived experiences beyond the laboratory, classroom or field site. Different types and applications of “geocomedy” are discussed, including its use in teaching and learning, as a means to interpret current events, and to reflect on life in an educational institution or in the discipline as a whole.
