Abstract
Knowing the history of Brazilian education is part of the process of recognizing its
evolution and its future perspectives. It is in this sense that this article takes as its main objective
the delineation of elements of the evolution of Brazilian Professional Education in the period from
1960s to the present moment, which is characterized by an expansion of the Federal Network of
Professional, Scientific, and Technological Education (RFEPCT). For this end we analyze social
and pedagogical elements in the history of the period. The study was qualitative in nature and
done by a review of the specialized literature and historical documents (legislations).
