Abstract

The paper explores parallels existent between the latest novel by contemporary Chilean writer Diamela Eltit, Mano de obra (Labor Force) (2002), and an innovative Polish Avant-Garde novel, titled Sklepy cynamonowe (The Cinnamon Stores) (1932) by Bruno Schultz. Despite the seventy years that separate their publication, both works show striking similarities in terms of style, narrative forms and content.
