Abstract

The thermoplastic Poly(Ether Ether Ketone) known as PEEK, has attained considerable commercial importance because of its wide array of excellent properties. PEEK and related semicrystalline polymers are usually synthesized in high boiling solvents because of their high degree of crystallinity and high melting points. One objective of this investigation was to synthesize an amorphous material of high molecular weight in solution at low temperature and to subsequently convert it to a derivatized structure that shows semicrystalline morphology.
