Abstract
This paper considers the invention of a "new" conception of literature by early German Romanticism against the background of the problem of the empty-self in Kantian philosophy. Novalis and Schlegel propose Transzendentalpoesie as a solution to this problem. This paper examines the sense in which Transzendentalpoesie is Transzendental.
