Abstract

<b>Stats: </b>2,744 submissions, 81 semifinalists (<i>Extremely</i> Competitive 1:34 or 2.95% acceptance rate)<br><br>Current Status: SEMI-FINALIST in competition. Work will be shipped to D.C. for review in-person for possible inclusion as a finalist mid-September.<br><br>See below:<br><br>--------------<br>Congratulations! Your work has been selected from 2,774 entries from throughout the United States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico for the semifinalist round of the Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition 2022. Semifinalist works will be shipped to Washington, D.C. in July/August 2021 at our expense.<br><br>We will follow up with an email from Portrait Gallery staff member, Marlene Harrison, asking if you wish to proceed in the competition and confirming the ownership of your artwork so that we may send a loan agreement, authorizing the museum to bring your portrait to Washington, D.C., for the final round of judging in mid-September 2021. Loan documents will be sent through DocuSign and are due back to us by May 10, 2021. For time based media art, we will be requesting high resolution video files from artist for jury day.<br><br>All of the finalist works selected will be included in the exhibition The Outwin 2022: American Portraiture Today, which will be on display at the National Portrait Gallery from April 30, 2022 to February 26, 2023, and is planned for tour through summer 2024. If your artwork is not selected to be included in the exhibition, we will cover the costs associated with returning your work to you. We will, of course, cover the cost of returning all exhibited works at the end of the tour, as well.<br><br><br><br>
