Abstract

A double-heterostructure photonic crystal laser cavity was designed and characterized in a lattice-shifted photonic crystal membrane. A high side-mode-suppression-ratio (20dB) mode was obtained from this cavity. Good agreement was obtained between the numerical predictions and the experimental lasing data.
