Abstract
The relationship between language and sexuality has now begun to gain importance in the field of sociocultural studies. This work explores the different linguistic clues encrypted in Marta Pessarrodona's (1982) short story La búsqueda de Elizabeth. This will allow us to reveal the hidden sexual identity of the central character. The analysis of the process of recognition, search and acceptance of a non-canonical sexual identity will validate the four principles proposed by Bucholtz & Hall (2005): emergence, indexicality, relationality and partialness.
