Abstract
The story of Moses and al-Khidr models dynamics of the master-disciple relationship (*irada*), especially connection (*rabita*) and intensive concentration (*tawajjuh*) in ways that I describe in terms laid out by classic Sufi commentaries and Sufi poetry as well as Carl Jung and Martin Buber, making use of Buber's I-Thou attitude concept to describe the master-disciple relationship.
