Abstract

This paper presents a reclosing scheme for parallel lines on the same tower. The present reclosing scheme for parallel lines in China will result in opening both lines when any type of inter-circuit permanent fault occurs. In contrast, the proposed reclosing scheme is able to avoid opening both lines and keep a quasi-three-phase operation as far as possible for inter-circuit permanent faults, thus it can greatly improve the transient stability limit and power transfer capacity of transmission section. Further simulations using the software PSASP have also shown the merits of the proposed reclosing scheme in a 750-kV parallel lines system in China.
