Abstract

The application of high strength, high-modulus polymers for resin-matrix/fiber reinforced composites has become very important in recent years. Aromatic polyethers such as poly(aryl ether), poly(aryl ether)sulfone and poly(aryl ether)ketones are considered as important thermoplastics. Recently, synthesis of a series of new poly(aryl ether)bisketones have been reported. This class of polymers exhibit excellent mechanical and thermal behavior. We report herein the synthesis of a new class of poly(aryl Ether)s which contain both biphenyl and bisketo functionalities in the polymer backbone.
