Abstract

Copolymerization studies were conducted to produce poly(arylene ether ketone/sulfone) copolymers. One objective was to increase the glass temperatures of the systems while not sacrificing crystalline melting behavior relative to the currently studied hydroquinone poly(aryl ether ketone) known as PEEK. Synthesis of both segmented and statistically random copolymers was performed. Utilization of biphenol as the aromatic bisphenol component also appears to be an attractive way to maintain high crystalline melting temperatures.
