N2 - Poly(aryl ether-sulfones), PSF, belong to a class of material known as engineering thermoplastics. Poly(tetrahydrofuran), PTHF, is hydrophilic, exhibits low glass transition temperatures and poor thermal stability. In this paper, we describe the synthesis and characterization of PSF-PTHF (A-B)N block copolymers with ionic linkages and well-defined architecture. The polymers were synthesized by using pyridine terminal PSF oligomers to terminate a living THF, chains. The THF polymerizations were initiated with a difunctional cationic initiator.
