Abstract
This paper describes the synthesis and characterization of polymeric azomethine. High molecular weight poly(aryl ether-bisketimines) could be prepared. The polymers were amorphous in nature and exhibited relatively high intrinsic viscosity values. C-13 NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy techniques were used to characterize the polymer backbone. The thermal behaviors of the polymers were ascertained by DSC and thermogravimetric methods. The polymers were acid-sensitive and underwent rapid degradation in the presence of hydrochloric acid in solution. This may be of interest for microlithography.
