We have established, by total reduction under hydrogen, the oxygen amount of the new T* cuprates Nd1.2Sr0.8-xY(Ln)xCuO4-δ (Ln = Ho, Er, Yb) and their behavior under controlled reduction and oxidation. The lack of any plateau of the thermogravimetric curve indicates the absence of any intermediate structure which can be stabilized by a step by step reduction. Conversely, the oxidation reveals a very good stability of these phases for incorporating supplementary oxygen.
