Abstract

Twenty-two new specimens of Anolis annectens Williams 1974, a species described on the basis of one specimen from an imprecise type locality, are reported from several localities in the lowlands of northwestern Venezuela. They provide the basis for a redescription of the species, including previously unknown coloration in life, and more precise information about its geographical distribution. Additional comparisons with its closest relative [Anolis onca (O'Shaughnessy 1875)], and with other anole species from geographically adjacent localities, are made. The type locality is restricted to the River Pueblo Viejo basin, eastern Zulia State, northwestern Venezuela.
