Abstract
The Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP) is an intriguing and well-publicized environmental problem. Through exploring this complex issue, students gain insight into aspects
of chemistry, oceanography, fluids, environmental science, life science and even international policy. These suggested learning ideas for grades 6-8 will encourage students to
explore important concepts about the ocean and how humans impact its health.
