Abstract
This article interprets the scriptural and folkloric manifestations of the archetypal Green Man of the Islamic Tradition who is an aid to those in peril and a spiritual guide to the pious. I explain how the Qur'anic Green Man story portrays Sufism's master-disciple relationship.
