Abstract

This session will focus on how to engage student learning in a non-traditional M.A. program, using CMU’s Broadcast and Cinematic Arts M.A. curriculum as a case study. Recently, this program developed a new area of concentration (Electronic Media Production) that is aimed toward students who are interested in media production-related careers. This session will investigate how to integrate practical skills and hands-on work into a traditionally research-heavy degree program. Curricular issues, student outcomes, and assessment will be touched on in the session.
