Abstract

The implementation of self-consistent electronic structure calculations has made a large impact in the past decade on our understanding of the origins of the properties of materials. In this paper we briefly review several applications and a few of the recent calculational results of our group for the material properties of diamond: defects, diamond-metal interfaces and chemical processes occuring at diamond surfaces.
