Abstract

During the spring of 2011, many tornadoes (large and small) devastated communities in America. This qualitative research project offers a first-hand experience to the observer from the point of view of a small group of college students that spent six days in Pulaski, VA providing disaster relief. The students kept a prompt-based journal based on the tenets of the Social Change Model of Leadership. This project attempts to merge leadership development with the personal stories of those performing service under extreme conditions in a transformational learning environment.
